Welcome to a World of outdoor adventure and landscape photography — where adventure, creativity, and learning come together in some of the most beautiful locations nature has to offer. I have lived in the Boone area of the Smokies for the last 35 years, exploring and photographing the Southern Appalachians in their finest conditions. For the last 17 of those years I have owned and operated Mountains to Sea Workshops. It was created as a fun and creative instrument for me to connect with like-minded people and the sharing of photography knowledge. A lot has changed in those 17 years, and Mountains to Sea Workshops has now grown into a full-time occupation offering Photography Workshops and Private Tours all over the Country.

My goal is to help you create images that you’re truly passionate about. Having explored and photographed the Blue Ridge Mountains for decades, I know these mountains well and understand how the seasons shape and light the landscape. Whether it’s winter snow and ice, the vibrant blooms of spring, the lush beauty of summer, or the incredible colors of autumn, I know when and where to go to give you the best opportunity to capture something special.

This website is designed for photographers of all levels who want to improve their skills and build confidence in the field. Through my photography workshops, private tours, and online training and tutorials, you’ll learn how to plan and capture powerful landscape images with purpose and meaning, not just snapshots. We’ll focus on key techniques like reading light and weather, composing with intention, using the right camera settings in the moment, and creating polished final images through effective post-processing.

No matter how you choose to learn—through a group workshop, private tour, or online training—you’ll find an experience built to help you grow as a photographer. My goal is to help you see the landscape with intention, understand light and conditions, improve your compositions, and develop the skills needed to consistently create images that are technically sound, with emotion and impact.
